We're living in a pandemic of mouth breathing.  Crooked teeth are a symptom of poor facial development.  Some of the reasons include incorrect myofunctional habits including mouth breathing, tongue thrusting, reverse swallowing and thumb sucking.  In addition poor nutrition and allergies, can also contribute to poor jaw development.  

What is Myobrace ?   

The Myobrace®System was is a preventive pre-orthodontic treatment which addresses the underlying causes of crooked teeth - muscle position and facial development.  Treatment is best suited to children aged 6 to 15 and involves using a series of removable appliances that are worn for 1-2 hours each day plus overnight while sleeping.

Unilateral BiteBlock Technology® 

By having the dental arches out of contact, there is a reduction of trigeminal innervated muscular activity. This allows for reduced muscle tension and can help alleviate associated jaw pain and headache symptoms. There is more room for the tongue, which is free to come forward for better breathing during sleep as opposed to the flat plane occlusal night guard which inhibits the tongue from coming forward.

The Homeoblock™ appliance is a revolutionary patented orthodontic orthopedic oral device that is much like a retainer in looks, but the results go way beyond teeth straightening.

Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) and Platelet Rich Fibrin (PRF) are a biocompatible way to promote excellent healing after the removal of a tooth or on placement of a ceramic implant.  The plasma and fibrin contain growth factors, which are essential in the process of cell proliferation and differentiation, extracellular matrix synthesis, remodelling and tissue regeneration.  

How do we make it? 

Remember the centrifuge in your chemistry class?  We take some of your own blood and place it in a centrifuge until we get the PRP and PRF.   The PRP liquid can be used to enhance the surface of dental implants to stimulate bone growth around the implant. PRP can speed up the healing by 40% in comparison to traditional treatment protocols.  The PRP becomes a fibrin clot after several minutes. This gel like clot can be inserted into extraction sockets to promote healing.

Ceramic implants are used to replace missing teeth.  They are a more biocompatible option to titanium implants.  

Some of the reported clinical indications for zirconia dental implants include in patients with hypersensitivity to titanium or metals (Berner et al., 2009), aesthetics in patients with a thin soft tissue biotype or where there is gingival recession (Cosgarea et al., 2015) and for aesthetic reasons in the anterior region of the mouth (Thoma et al., 2016).

If you have a dental infection or if you have pain, a dental extraction or surgical removal may be recommended after a full assessment. 

The tooth can be removed with local anaesthetic, the area will be fully cleaned out using natural agents with a clinical protocol for optimum healing.

Ceramic crowns, inlays and onlays are an excellent metal-free option for restoring teeth.  They are customised to your tooth and are bonded into place providing good biocompatibility as well as aesthetics.
